For this blog, I had to pick out 3 of 27 design tutorials to write about. The three that I have picked are making your own portfolio web page, photography portfolio, and funky web design layout. I tried all three of them and couldn’t figure out the first two. I am not very good in Photoshop yet, so they were a bit confusing for me.
I could actually get some of the steps to work for me the way they were supposed to on the funky web design layout tutorial. I felt good about what I had accomplished. It had a lot of detailed steps, which may be why I figured some of it out.
The photography portfolio tutorial had a lot of steps as well, but they were confusing. I couldn’t see how the steps provided would actually get me to the end result of what they had.
On the make your own portfolio web page tutorial, there weren’t a whole lot of steps which made it harder for me to even try to get to the end result.
In the end, I like tutorials that have lots of steps to walk me through the process to make sure that I get the correct result in the end.

The Site Development Process
The purpose of this particular blog is to explain the development process of a website in my own terms. There are 7 steps to building a site:
The first step is to come up with an idea for a website and research it. How is it going to work? What is it going to look like? What will make people want to visit the site?
The second step is to create and organize the content that will go on the site. Will there be things to do on it? Will there be something to buy that attracts people to the site? Will there be credible reading material?
The third step is to develop the look of the site. What colors will you use? What kind of theme do you think will help draw people to the site?
The fourth step is to put together the website to where all of the features mesh well.
The fifth step is to test the site. Does everything work the way it’s supposed to? Are there any typos?
The sixth step is to launch the site. Everything is done now. Let the world see your hard work!
The seventh and final step (which is ongoing) is to maintain the site. You have to keep the information current and correct so that people still want to visit your website.
I think that if I were to be a part of the design process, I would have to be one of the testers. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist so I would be good at catching typos.

Web Design 1- Goals for this class
My goals for Web Design 1 class are as follows: learn how to successfully design a web page on my own, learn a good chunk of the codes involved in making a page, and be able to help someone if they need help designing their own page.
One of my fears for this class is the name itself. It intimidates me and makes me think that it will be hard to learn everything there is to learn about designing a web page. The codes involved are another one of my fears. It sounds like there are going to be a lot of them! It also sounds like they are going to be more than difficult to learn. I can only hope that they aren’t! I don’t have any fears about using the Internet, but being able to make something work on it properly is a whole different story.
Tools on the Internet that I hope will help me achieve my career goals are networking sites, like facebook and blogger; the word of mouth on the networking sites; or anyone searching for photographers in the area and having the link to my web page be listed for them to click on and check out my work.
